[Petbunny] Hares

[Willow Indigo]

I have lived in Australia for 20 years now and I have never ever seen a 
wild hare, they are quite rare. I have known of two people that have 
rescued injured baby hares and reared them, but still never actually seen 
one personally. We even live in a rural area and see many wild bunnies, 
never a hare. But tonight driving home at dusk, my husband suddenly 
said "What the heck was that!" I was looking the other way and didn't know 
what he was talking about. He said something had run across the road and 
sat by a gate, it was BIG and brown, long and skinny with HUGE ears he 
said!
I said "Ooo, it must be a hare!" I told him to quickly turn around so I 
could at lest shoo it away from the road further into the paddocks. When 
we got back, there he was near the edge of the paddock, full periscope 
sniffing the air, he was adorable and his ears certainly were huge! Then 
lo and behold another one appeared, I watched mesmerized as they ran and 
binkied in unison, then a baby hare appeared from out of nowhere, doing 
the bunny 500 (Well, Hare 500) interspersed with binkies! I feel so 
blessed to have witnessed such a gorgeous and natural scene, I hung around 
long enough to make sure they were heading away from the road and came 
home feeling really grateful and privileged, they certainly look very 
different from bunnies!
