Thank you for the replies, Criss, Rhonda, and others. Well, the new
kitty girls pretty much made the decision for me when they would be let
out. They were both pretty quiet the first day after the spay. By the
second day when I opened the door to their room with a baby gate in
place to slow them down from escaping, Elvira had scaled the gate and
was sitting perched on top of it before I could fully get the door open.
I checked their stitches and all looked good so we let them out by
themselves last night for a couple of hours. There were kittens flying
all over the place.
This afternoon when I came home I let them our with the 7 others for the
first time, supervised of course. In the past hour:
1) They have knocked down a stack of magazines from the coffee table.
2) They have scattered some of Peter's hay in a box all over the dining
room and kitchen.
3) They have run all over the house with their foster dad Beau, who
looks like a larger version of them minus the white patch on the chest.
4) They have leaped up and traveled over every piece of furniture in the
house. Yes, literally every piece of furniture.
They haven't tried to jump up on the counter and terrorize Albert the
cockatiel , but that's just because he is mean enough to peck them hard.
Yes, I think they are going to be just fine! Thanks for soothing an
anxious dad's panic.
